S&T alumnus, academy member receives Lifesaving Award

Ralph Grant, a 1993 chemical engineering alumnus of Missouri S&T and member of the university’s Academy of Chemical and Biochemical Engineers, has been honored with University Police’s Lifesaving Award. 
 
At a ceremony on Monday, May 27, Chief Doug Roberts presented the award to Grant in recognition of his quick actions during an academy event in April when another member of the academy lost his footing and struck his shin, which caused profuse bleeding.  
 
Roberts says Grant recognized the person’s bleeding was extensive, and he removed his belt and used it as a tourniquet to slow blood loss.
