Ph.D. student receives ventilation scholarship

Aamir Iqbal, a Ph.D. student in mining engineering, received the 2025 McPherson-Marks-Greuer Ventilation Scholarship Award from the Coal and Energy Division of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) at the MinEXCHANGE 2025 conference, held in February in Denver.
The scholarship, established in 2014 by the SME Underground Ventilation Committee, honors Dr. Malcolm J. McPherson, John R. Marks and Dr. Rudolf Greuer, recognized authorities in mine ventilation. The award supports graduate students in mining or minerals engineering who will use mine ventilation technology to enhance the safety and health of underground miners.
