More than 30 members of Missouri S&T’s student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers competed at the Mid-America Student Symposium in Nebraska in April, hosted by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Missouri S&T teams competed against 16 other Midwestern universities, winning the overall symposium trophy. The Steel Bridge Design Team placed first in its competition and will advance to the national finals at Iowa State University in May. S&T students also placed third in the Concrete Canoe and Sustainable Solutions competitions and won the FE Quiz Bowl, scoring over twice as many points as the second-place team.
