Benkendorf named 2025 Renaissance Student

Megan Benkendorf, a senior in applied mathematics with minors in music, computer science and physics, was named Missouri S&T’s 2025 Renaissance Student. Benkendorf, from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, received a $1,000 prize at a ceremony hosted by the arts, languages, and philosophy department on Monday, May 5.

The Renaissance Student Award recognizes a senior who excels in multiple academic or artistic disciplines. Benkendorf has been a leader in campus music ensembles, a founding organizer of the S&T Woodwind Choir, and an instructor for the Aerial Swing Dance Club. She also served as a teaching assistant for glassmaking and held leadership roles in the undergraduate math club and Kappa Kappa Psi.

Aaron Brown, a senior in ceramic engineering with a music minor, was named runner-up. Brown has performed as first-chair trombone in university ensembles and contributed to research and engineering projects on campus.
