The S&T community is invited to an ADVANCE Program Distinguished Lecture by Dr. Coleen Carrigan, the Copenhaver Associate Professor of Engineering and Society at the University of Virginia, at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in the Innovation Lab Forum.
Carrigan’s talk, “Cracking the Bro Code,” is based on her book of the same title, and focuses on the importance of transforming the workplace culture of tech industries into one of increased respect, civility and egalitarianism. She also emphasizes holding the bro code bosses – the billionaires who control high-tech corporations – accountable to values that serve democracy and justice.
A reception will follow the talk.
