Dr. Ross Channing Reed, lecturer of philosophy, presented his paper, titled “Leisure, recreation, addiction, and the techno-precarious performance society,” at the 7th International Conference on Philosophical Counseling and Practice. This virtual event took place Feb. 21-23.
Reed, one of North America’s first philosophical counselors, has been in private practice since 1998. His areas of research include existentialism, ethics, philosophical psychology and philosophical counseling, philosophy of religion, addiction and trauma. Reed is the author of The Liberating Art of Philosophy, Mindscapes, numerous articles and book chapters, and the forthcoming Precarity, Trauma, Addiction, Love.
