Miners Solving for Tomorrow research conference winners announced

With 97 participants and 20 volunteer judges, the inaugural combined undergrad/grad conference was held April 2–3 at the Innovation Lab.

Undergraduate Winners:

  • Best Oral Presentation: Jared Wortmann — Missouri’s Manufacturing Difference During World War II (Advisor: Dr. Andrew Behrendt)
  • Best Poster Presentation: Allie Dingfield — Quantitative Shadowgraph for Turbulence in Supersonic Flows (Advisor: Dr. Davide Vigano)

Graduate Winners:

  • Best Oral Presentation: Ali Fasihi — Fast Penetration Test for 3D Concrete Printing. (Advisor: Dr. Nicolas A. Libre)
  • Best Poster Presentations (tie):
    • HaoDao Li — Digital Fabrication with Fiber-Reinforced Concrete (Advisor: Dr. Kamal Khayat)
    • Ellen Afful — Optimizing Organic and Surfactants on Sulfuric Acid Mist Suppression (Advisor: Dr. Guang Xu)

All winners received a certificate and $300 prize at the April 4 closing ceremony.
