Missouri S&T announced the winners of the MEI Master of Science in Economics and Innovation Tagline Competition held Thursday, March 20. Students were invited to submit suggestions for a tagline for the new MEI program, and 11 finalists pitched their ideas to judges and an audience.   

Payton Faust, a senior in electrical engineering, was awarded the first certificate tagline prize and a $1,000 scholarship. Rupack Ranjan Halder, a Ph.D. student in chemical engineering, earned the second certificate tagline prize and the People’s Choice awardand received $1,500. Arun, a master’s student in biological sciences, won the grand prize and a $2,000 scholarship for his tagline. 

Judges included Jill Warren, S&T chief of staff, Dr. Phillip Mulligan, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and director of the Product Innovation and Creativity Center, Dr. Joshua Schlegel, associate professor of nuclear engineering and radiation science, Dr. Christi Luks, teaching professor of chemical and biochemical engineering, and Dr. Melody Lo, MEI program director and Steinmeyer Memorial Endowed Chair of Economics. Thank you to the students and judges who participated in the competition.
