Researchers win 2025 Hunt-Kelley Outstanding Paper Award

A group of S&T researchers received the 2025 Hunt-Kelley Outstanding Paper Award (AIME) from the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) Board of Directors for the paper entitled “In-Situ Observation of the Solidification of X70 Steel Using High-Temperature Confocal Scanning Laser Microscope.” The authors of the paper are Dr. Laura Bartlett, Robert V. Wolf Associate Professor in Metallurgical Engineering, Dr. Mario Buchely, Roberta and G. Robert Couch Assistant Professor of materials science and engineering, Dr. Katelyn Kiser, senior metallurgical engineer for the Center for Advanced Manufacturing, and Dr. Ronald O’Malley, F. Kenneth Iverson Chair of Steelmaking Technologies Professor and Director of the Kent D. Peaslee Steel Manufacturing Research Center.

The award will be presented at the AIST President’s Award Breakfast in conjunction with AISTech 2025, the Iron and Steel Technology Conference and Exposition, in May.
