To honor International Mother Language Day, which highlights the importance of linguistic and cultural diversity, the Bangladeshi Student Association (BSA) at Missouri S&T hosted a vibrant event on Feb. 20. The day serves as a reminder to value mother languages worldwide and commemorates the efforts made on Feb. 21, 1952, to preserve the Bangla language.
The event began with the national anthem and featured musical performances and poetry readings, with participation from young children to promote cultural respect. A special segment welcomed new students from Bangladesh, helping them feel at home in the S&T community. The event also honored recent Bangladeshi graduates, recognizing their dedication and contributions as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.
Bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds, the event fostered harmony, respect, and unity. Let’s continue to celebrate our languages, as they connect us to our roots and to one another.
