Former NASA astronaut to visit S&T

Dr. Sandra Magnus, a two-time S&T graduate who served aboard the International Space Station and flew on the final space shuttle mission, will visit the S&T campus on Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2.

Dr. Magnus is passionate about interacting with students and creating meaningful connections. Her visit will include multiple events across campus with Women in Physics, Society of Women Engineers, Kummer Vanguard Scholars, athletics and more. The Gamma Theta Chapter of Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) and Tau Beta Pi will host a Q&A session with Magnus 1-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, in Room 120 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. This Q&A session will be open to the Missouri S&T community. Magnus earned a bachelor’s degree in physics in 1986, followed by a master’s degree in electrical engineer in 1990. Her Ph.D. in engineering is from the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology.
