Renee brings a wealth of experience to the University Libraries team as the new discovery librarian. As someone who grew up moving around due to being a military brat, Renee has lived in various places, with Germany being a favorite. After moving to Springfield, Missouri, for college, Renee decided to make it home. While pursuing a music degree, she started working in the campus library and discovered a passion for the library field. Over the past 25 years, Renee has gained extensive experience working in academic, corporate, and public libraries, with a focus in technical services. She’s also been an active member of several committees and boards, including the Missouri Library Association, Innovative Users Group, and MOBIUS. Most recently, she served as the executive director for Christian County Library, located between Springfield and Branson, for 3 1/2 years.
Renee has a variety of personal interests. She loves reading, especially historical fiction and suspense, and is on a mission to visit all 50 states before turning 50 — with only eight states left to visit. She is also involved in her church’s music ministry, has a deep love for dogs, and enjoy keeping up with her daughter Chloe, who is in her senior year of high school.
While Renee will be working remotely, she is excited to contribute in an academic setting again and is always ready to assist wherever needed.
