Undergraduate students at Missouri University of Science and Technology are invited to compete in the Micro Grand Challenge 1 – 5 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in rooms 226 and 235 of the Engineering Management Building. The challenge will focus on carbon dioxide capture and sequestration technologies.

The campus community is invited to hear the final team presentations beginning at 4 p.m. in Room 235 of the Engineering Management Building. The Micro Grand Challenge is hosted by Dr. Shelly Minteer, director of the Kummer Research Center for Resource Sustainability.

Dr. Rachel Kohman, assistant dean of entrepreneurship education for the Kummer College, said the event is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to experience rapid problem identification and solution brainstorming alongside prestigious researchers at Missouri S&T.

“This event is a way for students to connect with research center directors and their peers while focusing on some of the exciting research challenges the university is currently tackling,” Kohman says.

The winning students will receive research scholarships through the university’s Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experiences (OURE) program to advance their research with Minteer.
