Q&A with CEC: Joann Stiritz

Joann Stiritz is a senior communications specialist for civil, architectural and environmental engineering. She has worked at S&T for 28 years.

Can you share your professional background? 
I have a degree in commercial art and business administration from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. I’m a senior communications coordinator for the civil, architectural and environmental engineering department, and my main duties include planning, designing and editing newsletters, brochures, annual reports, displays and other specialty items for marketing and promoting the department.

What do you most enjoy about working at Missouri S&T? 
I enjoy the creative process in developing an idea and completing it from start to finish. 

What advice would you have for a struggling student? 
Do your best and take one day at a time.

What is something people may be surprised to learn about you? 
I can finger whistle loudly. It comes in handy when taking photos of large groups.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? 
Accelerated healing to improve people’s quality of life.
