Miners Solving for Tomorrow research conference

Calls for proposals and registration are now open for the student research conference – Miners Solving for Tomorrow – scheduled April 2-4. The two-and-a-half-day conference is the first combined undergraduate and graduate conference at S&T. Judges for student submissions as well as sponsors and volunteers to help during the conference are needed.

April 2 will highlight undergraduate research presentations and posters, along with keynote speaker Dr. Katelyn Cooper, assistant professor in the School of Life Sciences from Arizona State University. Cooper directs the mental health division of the Research for Inclusive STEM Education Center.

On April 3, graduate research presentations and posters will be the focus. Dr. Richard Dawes, NSF program director for the Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Division of Chemistry, of the Chemical Theory, Models, and Computational Methods Program will be the keynote speaker.

April 4 is comprised of a short program led by Dr. Kamal Khayat, vice chancellor for Research and Innovation, that will include awarding prizes recognizing the best presentations and best posters for both undergraduates and graduates.

Abstracts and biographies will be published for the conference and student works will be available in Scholar’s Mine following the conference.
