The National Science Foundation (NSF) Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC) program is a funding opportunity in materials research and education. Faculty are invited to participate in the internal competition to determine the Integrated Research Groups (IRGs) that will form the foundation of S&T’s MRSEC proposal.

The following key dates will support this process:

MRSEC open house: 3-5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in Room 115 Innovation Lab. During this event you will learn more about the MRSEC program, explore collaboration opportunities and network with potential team members.

Internal letter of Intent (LOI) deadline: Friday, Feb. 14. Submit your LOI to indicate your interest and outline your research vision. Instructions can be found in the limited submission funding opportunities announcements section research.mst.edu/funding/limited-submissions. IRGs will be finalized and announced Friday, March 7.

Proposal development: Full proposal development support will be available Friday, March 7, through Monday, June 23.

Preliminary proposal submission deadline: Monday, June 23. Prepare and submit your proposal.

Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to participate, as MRSECs are inherently multidisciplinary and thrive on collaboration. For questions or additional information, email limitedsubmissions@mst.edu.
