S&T researchers publish research on bias of virtual assistants

A team of S&T researchers co-authored an article published in the Journal of Language and Social Psychology titled “Bias Toward the Accents of Virtual Assistants.” The article explores users perceptions of the accented voice options for use with Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant, and Google Assistant. The team included Dr. Sarah Hercula, associate professor of English and technical communication, Dr. Daniel Shank, associate professor of psychological science, Dr. Jessica Cundiff, associate professor of psychological science, and Dr. David Wright, professor of English and technical communication.
