Dr. Hasti Khoraminezhad, a post-doctoral fellow in physics, Dr. Marco Cavaglia, professor of physics, and the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory research group received the physics department’s 2024 Outreach Award. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to outreach activities that promote physics to children, S&T students and the public.

The award winners organized countless presentations and workshops that captured a broad audience across the state and across age groups: children’s programs at the public library, telescope viewing events for high school students and demonstrations for thousands of visitors at the St. Louis Science Center. Their passion for making astrophysics and cosmology understandable inspired a new generation of scientists.
