Otto Knittel and Jessica A. Frank, both seniors, have been awarded $2,000 scholarships from Tau Beta Pi for the 2024-25 academic year. Tau Beta Pi is the world’s largest engineering honor society.

Knittel, a mechanical engineering major, serves as the corresponding secretary of the Missouri Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi and is a member of the Baja Design Team. He is also a two-time Academic All-American in the decathlon for S&T’s track and field team.

Frank, an honors student in geological engineering, is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Ceramic Arts of S&T. She operates a nonprofit selling her art and donating all proceeds.

Tau Beta Pi awards scholarships based on academic excellence, campus leadership, service and potential contributions to the engineering profession.

Both Knittel and Frank are 2021 high school graduates. Knittel plans to pursue a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Missouri S&T after graduation.
