Dr. Rainer Glaser and a team of researchers have published a study revealing a new class of organic materials for nonlinear optics in Chemistry of Materials. Co-authors of the study include Dr. Harmeet Bhoday, who earned a Ph.D. in chemistry in 2024 from S&T, Justin Nulsen, who earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2023 from S&T, and Dr. Steven P. Kelley, crystallographer at University of Missouri-Columbia’s X-ray Laboratory.

The research is titled “Polar Stacking of Dipole Parallel-Aligned Monolayers of Unsymmetrical 1,4-Diphenyl-1,3-butadienes Creates Nonlinear Optical Materials: Insights from Experiments Guide Structure Assignments.”
