Researchers win 2024 Risaburo Sato Award

Dr. Daryl Beetner, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and a team of researchers won the 2024 Risaburo Sato Award for the best overall paper at the 2024 IEEE Joint International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, Signal and Power Integrity: EMC Japan/Asia-Pacific International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility. The paper, titled “Dust figure guided modeling of corona discharge on touchscreen surface,” was selected from over 200 papers presented at the conference.

The paper’s coauthors include:

  • Zhekun Peng, a doctoral student studying electrical engineering.
  • Dr. Jianchi Zhou, an alumnus who earned a doctoral degree in electrical engineering.
  • Darryl Kostka, EMC design engineering manager at Apple.
  • Dr. David Pommerenke, professor of electrical engineering at Graz University of Technology and former professor of electrical engineering at Missouri S&T.
