September marks National Recovery Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the reality of hope and healing from mental health and substance use issues. In support of this initiative, student well-being is offering “Recovery is Possible” T-shirts and sweatshirts to those on campus who complete the Collegiate Recovery Ally Training through the Missouri Alliance of Collegiate Recover Organizations.
Developed by Partners in Prevention, the Collegiate Recovery Ally Training is designed to equip faculty, staff and students with the knowledge to support individuals recovering from substance use disorders. The training covers several topics, including:
The training is one session and takes approximately 30 minutes. Access the training at mopiptraining.org/macro. Upon completion, participants can receive a “Recovery is Possible” T-shirt or sweatshirt, while supplies last, by emailing Stephanie Murray-Miller, student support services manager, at smurray-miller@mst.edu with the certificate of completion and preferred size.
Additionally, student well-being offers the Miners 4 Recovery support group. This group provides a safe space for students to explore behaviors, reflect on changes, and avoid negative consequences related to substance use. It is not an abstinence-only group and is facilitated by a counselor.
