Welcome to our new and returning Miners! Kick off the semester at Missouri S&T with exciting events designed to help you connect, explore and get involved on campus. Whether you’re looking for helpful resources to navigate your first days, opportunities to join student organizations or just some fun and relaxation, the first two weeks are packed with activities that offer something for everyone.

Check out these events happening this week, Monday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 30: 

Esports Tournament

Join the Esports Club for two nights of gaming and learn more about opportunities to get involved with Esports throughout the year.

  • 5 p.m.-midnight Monday, Aug. 26, and Tuesday, Aug. 27, in Rooms 222 and 209 in the Computer Science Building. Register on MinerLink.

OAR Demonstration

Join members of the Student Recreation staff to learn more about Outdoor Activities & Rentals and find out how to reserve camping equipment, canoes, hammocks and more!

  • 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, on the lawn in front of Parker Hall.

Welcome Back Picnic

Enjoy food, music, games, and connect with campus resources.

  • Noon-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Diversity House.

Navigating College and Overcoming Adversity

Grab your roommates and hear motivational speaker Ishmael Pruitt speak about why college thrives on challenges, not comfort. Learn how to overcome adversity, embrace failing forward, and turn setbacks into opportunities for growth.

Anna DeGuzman: Queen of Cards

Hailed by GQ as “a master magician of the digital age” and The New York Times as “one of the few” women shaping the future of magic, Anna DeGuzman is leading a new generation of performers.

  • 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, in Leach Theatre. Student tickets are $5.
