On Monday, July 1, library and learning services will change its name to University Libraries. This change marks the first renaming since 1980, when the current name was adopted during a university reorganization. Additionally, Dr. Bella Gerlich’s title will be updated from dean of libraries to vice provost and dean of libraries.
“The new name aligns with S&T’s North Star goal,” says Gerlich. “It reflects the standard nomenclature used by most academic research libraries, particularly those at R1-classified universities.”
University Libraries include the campus library facility, named Curtis Laws Wilson Library, the S&T Archives, which has a unique collection significant to the history of the university, Scholars’ Mine, an online collection of scholarly and creative works produced by the faculty, staff, and students of S&T, and the Writing and Communication Center.
