Missouri S&T is excited to introduce the Kummer Impact Professorship, a new initiative to advance leadership and technological innovation within the Kummer Institute. This professorship offers five years of discretionary funding totaling $50,000, which includes an annual salary stipend of $7,500 plus benefits.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Eligible candidates must hold a ranked faculty position with tenure by the date of nomination.
- Candidates should demonstrate potential to lead a significant, long-lasting program of research or scholarship in any of the following interdisciplinary fields:
- Advanced manufacturing and electronics.Bio-innovation.Energy and resource sustainability.Smart systems.STEM-adjacent scholarship in non-STEM disciplines.Sustainable and resilient infrastructure.Emerging fields of national interest.
- Research areas strategically important to the campus.
- Demonstrated potential to act as an intellectual leader across campus by:
- Promoting an inclusive, collaborative environment among colleagues within and outside your department.
- Providing meaningful and sustained service to the university.
Nominations, including self-nominations, should be submitted to respective deans by Monday, February 10, 2025.

- Dr. Mehrzad Boroujerdi, dean of the College of Arts, Science, and Education.
- Dr. David Borrok, dean of the College of Engineering and Computing.
- Dr. Dick Brow, executive director for operations of the Kummer Institute.
- Dr. Colin Potts, provost and executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs
- Dr. Jim Sterling, dean of the Kummer College for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development
Dr. Hongyan Ma, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has been selected as the inaugural recipient of a Kummer Impact Professorship, effective Monday, July 1.
