Andrew Careaga, who worked at S&T for over 30 years, was presented the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) Virginia Carter Smith Recognition Award at its Mid-America conference in Chicago in April.
The award honors professionals with exceptional service to CASE who are ending or will be ending their careers within the last or next 12 months. They must have at least 15 years of successful participation in institutional advancement and be employed by a CASE member institution in District VI (Mid-America) at the time of retirement. The district comprises Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
Since retiring from S&T, Careaga has returned to creative writing, works as a freelance reporter, and relaunched his blog, “Andy writes!” at andrewcareaga.com.
