Lurong (Dena) He is a senior communications coordinator for mechanical and aerospace engineering. She has worked at S&T for one year and seven months.

What do you most enjoy about working at Missouri S&T?
As a senior communications coordinator, I most enjoy the collaborative and innovative environment at Missouri S&T. The sense of community among colleagues and the opportunity to share stories about cutting-edge research and student achievements are truly rewarding. It’s inspiring to be part of an institution constantly pushing the boundaries of knowledge and technology.

What is your proudest accomplishment while working here?
My proudest accomplishment while working here has been creating websites for our faculty, research labs and centers that significantly boosted our department’s visibility and engagement. The positive feedback from faculty and the increased web traffic and interaction metrics are testaments to the impact of this initiative.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a new CEC staff member?
My advice to a new CEC staff member would be to take full advantage of the resources and support available at Missouri S&T. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and seek guidance from experienced colleagues. Building strong relationships and networks within the campus community will help you navigate challenges and maximize your success.

What advice would you have for a struggling student?
To a struggling student, I would say it’s important to reach out for help and not be afraid to ask for support. Missouri S&T offers many resources, from academic advising to mental health services. Remember that setbacks are a natural part of the learning process, and perseverance, along with seeking assistance, can help you overcome any obstacles.

What is something people may be surprised to learn about you?
People may be surprised to learn that I hold two master’s degrees — one in English language and literature and another in information science and technology. This unique combination of degrees has allowed me to blend my passion for storytelling with a deep understanding of technology, enabling me to communicate complex ideas effectively and creatively in my role as senior communications coordinator.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
If I could have any superpower, it would be the ability to instantly understand and speak any language. Communication is key in my role, and this superpower would allow me to connect with people from all over the world, breaking down language barriers and fostering global collaboration.
