New name for S&T geosciences, geological and petroleum engineering department

The geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering department has a new name – earth sciences and engineering.
Dr. Stephen Gao, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor and chair of the department, says the previous name directly listed its majors, but it did so in a complicated and restrictive way. He says the name change is the result of a comprehensive evaluation process that incorporated feedback from faculty, students and alumni, and it required several layers of approval.
