In partnership with Missouri State University, Missouri S&T hosted the American Society of Civil Engineering Mid-America Student Symposium April 18-20, in Rolla. The event hosted over 450 students from 18 universities competing in 13 different competitions.
The event featured distinguished speakers during the awards ceremony including the ASCE national president Marsia Geldert Murphey, who earned a master’s degree in civil engineering from S&T in 1977, and Jim Rowlings, vice president at Kiewit.
S&T’s Concrete Canoe team won first place in the project proposal category and took third place overall, while the Steel Bridge team continued their winning streak with a sixth consecutive regional win, placing first once again.
