The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence is continuing its “Communities of Practice” in April. These are sessions where instructors can gather to discuss topics, such as active learning, entrepreneurial mindset and using MATLAB as a teaching tool. 

The following sessions will be in the Faculty Innovation Studio, located in Room G-11 of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library.  

• Teaching with KEEN: 10-11 a.m. Thursday, April 11. 

Want to learn about KEEN and how to incorporate the mindset into your classroom? Come to the KEEN Community of Practice to learn from other faculty that are using it already in their courses. Register online. 

• Teaching with MATLAB: 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, April 17 

MATLAB is a software program widely used by engineers and scientists. Over 2,000 individuals used it at S&T last semester. Now you can incorporate MATLAB assignments in Canvas through MATLAB Grader. How do you use MATLAB? What can you and your colleagues do to improve student engagement and learning with this software? Representatives from MathWorks will join us via Zoom to answer questions and showcase what MATLAB can do. Register online. 

• Teaching with Active Learning: 2-3 p.m. Thursday, April 18
