Statewide tornado drill planned March 6

Next week is Severe Weather Preparedness Week and Phelps County will participate in the 2024 statewide tornado drill. Residents should expect to hear sirens at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6.
Each year, the National Weather Service chooses the date of Missouri’s statewide tornado drill. This is an opportunity for Missourians to practice their sheltering plans and ensure readiness in case of a severe weather emergency while at home, work or school. Learn how to stay safe when a tornado strikes at weather.gov/sgf/SevereWeatherPreparednessWeek.
Phelps County also uses an alert system called Everbridge. Through this program, citizens may enter their contact information and any weather or community alerts will be sent to the information provided. If you are interested in receiving weather alert information for Phelps County please sign up online.
