Professional development opportunities available for all instructors

This semester, the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) and the educational innovation team will partner with colleagues from the University of Missouri System to offer all instructors, including adjuncts and graduate teaching assistants, opportunities for professional development.

Jan. 8-12: Teaching Renewal Week 2024

University of Missouri-Columbia is offering a “Teaching Renewal Week.” This year’s focus is on generative artificial intelligence systems and how they impact higher education. As this is a hot topic, you will be seeing more sessions like this in 2024.

Teaching Renewal Week is open to anyone from any UM System campus. Sign up online.

Jan. 8-12: Missouri Online Bootcamp

Want to brush up on your academic technology skills? Do you want to learn how to use new technology or use it more effectively? Sign up for one of Missouri Online’s Bootcamp sessions. Register online.

Jan. 11-12: Crescendo of Entrepreneurially Minded Learning from the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN).

  • Enhance teaching by adding Entrepreneurial Minded Learning (EML) activities to your course. Register online.

March 14: Innovation in Teaching and Learning Conference (ITLC)

  • Josè Antonio Bowen, a former higher education leader with experience at Stanford, Georgetown, the University of Southampton, and Miami University, will present the keynote on teaching with artificial intelligence. Register online.
