Microsoft Teams has been the primary tool used for chat communication at Missouri S&T for a while now. To keep Teams up-to-date and effective, changes need to happen periodically. Although a lot of the upcoming changes that Microsoft has made are behind the scenes, it’s still good to know what changes are occurring and how they might affect you.

Starting Jan. 4, there will be a “toggle” option located in the menu of Teams that allows you to try the new version. The toggle button can be used to switch back and forth between new Teams and Classic Teams. It is recommended to at least try the new version of Teams before swapping over to Classic Teams. The toggle button should look like the screenshot.

On March 31, everyone at the University of Missouri System will automatically switch from Classic Teams to the updated version.

The updates will include higher performance while using half as much memory, faster load times, and faster connections to meetings.

Additional announcements and information will be provided prior to the UM System change on March 31.
