Rolla Bee Club will sponsor three beginning beekeeping classes in 2024. These beginning beekeeping classes will cover the basics beginning beekeepers need to consider before getting bees, as well as beekeeping terminology, hive placement strategies, how to keep bees healthy, and pest management, all based on scientifically-based best management practices. The educational, non-profit club will have two beginning beekeeping classes on Jan. 27 and Feb. 24, 2024.

The deadline to register for the Jan. 27, 2024, class is Jan. 13.
The deadline to register for the Feb. 24, 2024, class is Feb. 10.

A Second Year Beginning Beekeeping Class will be held on March 23, 2024. This class will review basic techniques from how to introduce queens, swarm catching and management, splitting, combining colonies and more. The deadline to register is March 10, 2024.

The cost is $100 per student and $180 for a couple. The minimum age for class attendance is 15 years. The fee includes a catered lunch, refreshments, class materials, and a chance to win an 8-frame hive.

Rolla Bee Club 2024 classes are scientifically based on best management practices and certified by Great Plains Master Beekeeping out of the University of Nebraska for credit toward master beekeeper certification.
