You’re invited to celebrate Andy Careaga with an afternoon of camaraderie and well-wishing 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. Careaga, assistant vice chancellor of marketing and communications, is retiring following 32 years of service at Missouri S&T.
Careaga joined Missouri S&T in 1991 as a staff writer, later serving as manager of public relations and director of communications. As executive director of marketing and communications, he led a team responsible for developing and managing Missouri S&T’s brand identity, strategic communications, web and digital initiatives, social media, visual identity and media relations, and served as the university’s chief spokesperson and chief marketing officer.
In 2018, Careaga assumed the additional role of chief of staff, serving as the university’s government and legislative relations liaison. He served as chief of staff until Nov. 1, when Jill Tanner was named chief of staff.
Careaga is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism. Prior to joining S&T, he served as communications and marketing coordinator for the Meramec Regional Planning Commission, a council of local governments based in St. James, Missouri, and as a general assignment reporter for the Rolla Daily News.
