The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) at 1:20 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, Oct. 4. FEMA will test both program capabilities. The alert will go to all consumer cell phones, as well as radios and televisions. If there is widespread severe weather or another significant event, the test will be postponed to Wednesday, Oct. 11.
