The 2021 Celebration of Nations in Rolla, MO. Michael Pierce/Missouri S&T.
Celebration of Nations is including a new contest this year: a Mini-Float Parade Competition. Participants will create a float on a platform, no larger than 4- by 6-feet and meet the following guidelines. Please consider getting your department or a student group you advise to participate in the competition.
The theme is “Wonders of the World,” and registration is due Monday, Sept. 18.
Floats must be “human-powered” or pulled in the parade without motorized technology. Floats must be parked in the designated display area after the parade for public viewing and voting for the People’s Choice Award.
All floats will also be judged by a panel of judges with prizes awarded in each category. Categories include K-12 school, commercial businesses, non-profit community organizations, university departments and university student organizations. A Grand Champion trophy will also be awarded.
The top float in these categories will receive $100 towards their organization’s account:
Some Rolla community organizations are willing to sponsor student organizations with funding for supplies and space in which to build their entry.
