S&T photographer wins three awards in 2023 UPAA annual photo competition

You’ve seen him around campus behind the camera lens working to achieve the shots that represent the best of S&T. Michael Pierce, S&T’s campus photographer, has been capturing S&T research and events since January 2021 with award-winning photography.

Pierce’s photography recently won three awards in the 2023 University Photographers Association of America’s annual photo competition. He earned first place in the science and research category for his photo “Good Boy, SPOT,” pictured above, and second place for his photo “In the Chamber.” He also earned second place in the people and portraits category for his photo “Magic Squares.”

The UPAA is an international organization of college and university photographers concerned with the application and practice of photography as it relates to the higher education setting.
