The experiential learning team at Missouri S&T recognized two S&T faculty members and a staff member for their roles in campus service and experiential learning. The awards were presented during a ceremony held in December 2022.

The Experiential Learning Award recognizes faculty and staff who require undergraduate students to go beyond mastering basic skills and knowledge and apply that material to problem-solving challenges. These activities involve collaborations and reflective learning and allow students to learn in environments that align with their aptitudes. The 2022 Experiential Learning Awards were presented to:

  • Courtney Jones, director of the Kummer Center for STEM Education.
  • Dr. Daniel B. Oerther, professor of civil, architectural, and environmental engineering.

The Service Learning Award recognizes faculty and staff who involve or influence undergraduate students in academic service learning or community service activities outside the classroom. The 2022 Service Learning Award was presented to:

  • Dr. Jillian Schmidt, associate teaching professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
