Teacher education and certification students lead family literacy night

Students in the two courses, School, Family, and Community Partnerships, and Language Arts for Elementary and Early Childhood Teachers, led a family literacy night at S&T’s Child Development Center. The night included interactive activities addressing the science of reading for children attending the center. Families were also given activity bags to continue learning with their children at home.
This event was funded through a $25,000 grant from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.”
Julia Alexander, assistant teaching professor of teacher education and certification, teaches Language Arts for Elementary and Early Childhood Teachers, and Dr. Michelle Schwartze, assistant teaching professor of teacher education and certification, teaches School, Family, and Community Partnerships.
