Julie Parker will celebrate 30 years at Missouri S&T next January. In 1994, Julie began her S&T career in admissions as a front office staff employee and then became an admissions counselor. She moved to the registrar’s office in 2000 and is now assistant registrar.
Julie’s days are fast-paced, and she enjoys facing new challenges each day. In her role as assistant registrar, she works to ensure student records are accurate. Her responsibilities include overseeing change of majors, student transfer credit, maintaining the degree audit system, processing various forms and awarding degrees. She enjoys maintaining student records so our students, faculty and staff can keep the students on track to meet their graduation requirements.
Julie’s favorite memories at S&T are working the commencement ceremonies. She says it’s a gratifying experience to see the look on the students’ and families faces when they complete their program.
Julie’s advice to other S&T employees is to learn to listen.
“Giving advice is much more effective when you understand to listen,” she says. “You may get asked the same question five times a day, but this is the first time the individual is hearing the answer. So, listen and be patient.”
