Dr. Klaus Woelk, associate professor of chemistry at Missouri S&T, has been named associate dean for academic affairs in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at S&T. The appointment begins July 1.
Woelk takes over the position from Dr. Shannon Fogg, who has served as interim associate dean since July 2019. Fogg will return to her faculty position as professor and chair of history and political science.
Woelk joined the S&T faculty in 2003 and has served as interim chair of the chemistry department. In 2011, he won the inaugural University of Missouri System President’s Award for Innovative Teaching for his unique approaches to redesigning large enrollment courses with technology-supported active learning strategies.
