S&T students win IEEE competition

S&T students competed in competitions at the 2023 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Region 5 Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 22, in Denver. 

Anton Lessmeister, a senior in computer engineering, and Katie McNevin, a sophomore in electrical engineering, placed first in the IEEE Region 5 Student Ethics Competition, where the students prepare and present an analysis of a scenario in professional ethics. Julian Ortiz, a senior in electrical engineering, Darryl Scheer, a senior in electrical engineering and Eric Duong, a junior in information science and technology, placed third in a division of the Region 5 Robotics Competition. Tatianna Reinbolt, a master’s student in electrical engineering, was a finalist in the Region 5 Poster Competition. Drs. Maciej Zawodniok, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, Steve E. Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and Tayo Obafemi-Ajayi, adjunct professor of electrical and computer engineering, supported the student events and participated in the regional business meeting. 

Region 5 includes states of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and parts of the surrounding states.
