Dr. Daniel Reardon, associate professor of English and technical communication, has been named vice provost of undergraduate education at S&T effective Thursday, June 1. He has served in this role in an interim capacity since August 2022.

“I am thrilled that Dan is moving into the vice provost position,” says Dr. Colin Potts, provost and executive vice chancellor of academic affairs at S&T. “As interim, Dan has supported the programs that directly impact our students and I am certain he will continue to improve these services to be the most beneficial to our students’ success.”

The role of the vice provost for undergraduate education is to improve the learning environment and enhance student learning outcomes. Reardon oversees several offices that target excellence in undergraduate programs such as Opportunities for Undergraduate Research Experiences (OURE), the Honors Program, Learning Enhancement Across Disciplines (LEAD), Hit the Ground Running, the S&T Advising Center, the Student Design and Experiential Learning Center, the Student Success Center, the Student Veterans Resource Center, and the Writing Center.

Reardon joined S&T in 2003 as an adjunct lecturer in English and became a full-time instructor in 2007. He served as assistant director for the Writing Center from 2009 to 2011, then became assistant professor in English and technical communication. He was promoted to associate professor in 2017. Reardon’s service to S&T includes membership on the student success committee and the assessment committee, among other roles. His research and scholarship focus on first-year course planning, academic program administration, and human-computer interaction through technical communication practices.
