Dr. Jim Murphy, associate vice chancellor of student affairs and dean of students, will retire from S&T Tuesday, June 6, after 35 years of service to the university.
“I’m grateful to Jim for his dedication and service to our division, to our university and especially to our students,” says Dr. Debra Robinson, vice chancellor of student affairs. “He has had a significant impact on our campus over the years, and we will miss him greatly. We wish Jim all the best.”
Murphy joined S&T in 1988 as director of residential life and later served as director of residence life and campus auxiliary services, then as assistant vice chancellor for student affairs. He has served as associate vice chancellor and dean of students since 2013.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure at Missouri S&T,” Murphy says. “It has given me many richly rewarding opportunities to work with some truly gifted students, to work with some very special people, and an opportunity to create some lifelong friendships. I will always be a Miner at heart and plan to stay connected with the campus community.”
