Dr. Mahelet Fikru, associate professor of economics, was invited to speak at a Natural Resources Economics and Energy Transition conference opening workshop called “Energy-efficiency policy in the built environment: From formulation to implementation.” Her talk, titled “Energy efficiency of buildings: what’s the role of policies?,” was among a list of 10 invited speeches in the international workshop. The workshop was held on Wednesday, March 15, at Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
The conference began the following day and Fikru co-presented her paper co-authored with Dr. Khalid Kisswani, chair of the Sustainable Energy and Economic Development Center at GUST. Fikru’s presentation focused on developing empirical methods to examine the relationship between per capita income and electricity consumption.
