Dr. Chariklia Sotiriou-Leventis, professor and chair of chemistry, and her research team, received a U.S. patent for the method they developed to synthesize amorphous carbon aerogels and graphitic carbon aerogels from polymeric xerogel powders.
In addition to Sotiriou-Leventis, researchers included Dr. Rushi Soni, who earned a Ph.D. in chemistry in 2021, and chemistry doctoral students Vaibhav Edlabadkar and ABM Shaheen ud Doulah.
