One of the most valuable assets Missouri S&T offers students is career readiness through career opportunities and employer relations (COER). The COER team provides resume and interview skill critiques and training to students while partnering with hundreds of employers to set students up for success in their careers after graduation.  

Last month, Missouri S&T hosted 349 companies in the Gale Bullman Building for the spring 2023 Career Fair. The Career Fair is hosted by career opportunities and employer relations (COER) and is led by Dr. William Zwikelmaier. Will and his team connect students with employers to help them land co-ops, internships and their dream jobs. 

COER has hosted over 200 sessions this year on many topics like critical thinking, digital technology, intercultural fluency and more to help strengthen S&T’s career readiness competencies. They have also recently added an artificial intelligence interview platform that can coach students to become better with interviews. Additionally, over 500 students use COER’s Career Closet to find professional attire, so their appearance is first-class, just like their education.

Due to the pandemic, and thanks to corporate donors, COER updated their private interview spaces with leading webcams and technology. This can be used by students looking for a quiet and non-distracting interview location as companies are finding return on investment for remote interviews.

COER has a walk-in headshot photo studio that allows anyone with an S&T ID to take professional-looking photos for LinkedIn and other websites. This includes graduation robes as well if students need to send some photos to family. 

Zwikelmaier is excited for COER to continue to evolve with the campus, and the team is always solving for tomorrow. He thanks his extraordinary team and everyone that continues to support their department.
