In accordance with a UM System initiative to reduce Google storage utilization, the ability to create new Google Shared Drives will be disabled on Wednesday, March 8. If there is a need for shared storage that cannot be met by Microsoft Teams, please contact the S&T IT Help Desk at 573-341-4357 to request approval to have a Google Shared Drive. 

Given the quotas placed on user Google My Drives storage in 2022 and quotas to be applied to Google Shared Drives on Tuesday, April 4, it is encouraged to consider the use of Microsoft OneDrive and Teams instead of Google as they allow 5 TB (5,000 GB) and 25 TB (25,000 GB) of file storage respectively, and meet a higher security standard for keeping your data safe. 

Upcoming Dates and Changes:

• Wednesday, March 8: Turn off self-service creation of shared drives in Google.
• Tuesday, April 4: Apply quotas to existing shared drives in Google.
• Wednesday, April 5: Set default quota to 5 GB for any new Google shared drives created by IT after review and approval of customer request.
