After completing branching requirements, S&T Army ROTC cadets are preparing to move out for their first assignments after they graduate in May. These Army ROTC cadets ranked very well nationally. Of the 11 cadets commissioning this year, all 11 received the Army component they wanted including active duty, U.S. Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. Of the seven cadets who competed for active duty, all received it and received either their first or second branch choice.
S&T’s Army ROTC cadets average ranking placed their cohort in the top 21% overall in the country, among the other 274 Senior ROTC programs nationwide. Overall, this cohort has excelled and is ready to complete their Army ROTC requirements before beginning their first assignments as commissioned Army Officers.
S&T cadets and their placements:
- Dakota Saylor, a senior in multidisplinary studies, received placement in the U.S. Army Reserve as Quartermaster. This was Saylor’s first choice.
- Andrew Edwards, a senior in geological engineering, received placement in the U.S. Army Reserve as Engineer. This was Edward’s first choice. He also received Distinguished Military Graduate, the top 20% in the nation.
- Eric Alcante, a non-degree seeking student, received placement in the Active Duty U.S. Army as Medical Service Corps. This was Alcante’s first choice.
- Emily Chambers, a senior in architectural engineering, received placement in the Active Duty U.S. Army as Military Intelligence, detailed to Field Artillery. This was Chambers’ second choice.
- Dale Crosman, a senior in mechanical engineering, received placement in the Active Duty U.S. Army as Infantry. This was Crosman’s first choice. He also received Distinguished Military Graduate.
- Eric Kleinschmidt, a senior in history, received placement in the Active Duty U.S. Army as Field Artillery. This is Kleinschmidt’s first choice.
- Aaron Lucio, a non-degree seeking student, received placement in the Active Duty U.S. Army as Military Intelligence. This was Lucio’s first choice.
- John Walkenhorst, a senior in aerospace engineering, received placement in the Active Duty U.S. Army as Military Intelligence, detailed to Field Artillery. This was Walkenhorst’s second choice.
- Joseph Watkins, a senior in business and management systems, received placement in the Active Duty U.S. Army as Infantry. This was Watkins’ first choice.
- Michael Callentine, a senior in business and management systems, received placement in the Army National Guard as Infantry. This is Callentine’s first choice.
